Thobes were the purchase item of the day. Opportunity was given to purchase thobes at a specialty shop in Khobar and this was the first thing that we did. There are a few different styles of thobes but a wide selection of gutras. Thobes and gutras are the traditional Saudi clothing for the male population. As with everything that we have done, this took a bit longer than anticipated so we quickly raced back to Dhahran for a tour of the Training and Career Development Center.
Reem Ghanim, gave a presentation about the Human Resources Development program. She talked about what they do to prepare employees for positions and how they continue to provide professional development once a person has been hired. To motivate excellence in the work place, live broadcasts, education refunds, off-site company courses and conferences as well as 1,000 e-programs are made available to employees.
